Hello World Again!

Hi,
Thanks for your interest in reading this post. I'm hoping to start updating this blog from now on. It's been a long, long time since I started this blog but never got around to updating it. But hopefully that is going to change. Though I didn't update this blog, I've not been completely out of the blogging scene. Over the years I've created dozens of blogs on various subjects. Some I still maintain, some occassionally updated, some neglected like this one and many totally deleted. Sadly :) Anyway I think this blog has potentional. It has been around for many years, and has a good name which I can use to blog on subjects and news I love.

That's it for now friend.

Thanks.

Prices of Bluetooth Headsets of K770 Sony Ericsson Mobile Phones

If you are looking for a Bluetooth headset for Sony Ericsson, Nokia, Motorola or any other mobile phone brand you might find the experience I had with searching for a Bluetooth headset to use with my Sony Ericson K770 mobile phone useful…

I have been wanting to buy a Bluetooth headset for some months now but didn’t quite get to going out and buying one. So finally today I got around and checked out in the eBay, Amazon, the official Sony Ericsson website and other sites that turned up in result pages in Google for searches about Bluetooth headsets. What I found out amazed me.. They are damn expensive!!! These headset are 100 to 150 US$! That’s as much as I paid for my brand new Sony Ericsson k770 phone!

Why does Sony Ericsson have to make these Bluetooth headset so expensive? I bought my new Sony Ericsson k770 phone about 4 months back for around 160 US$ in from a local shop and you tell me a accessory for that phone is almost as much as the phone?

I think it is time for the prices of Bluetooth headsets of K770 and other Sony Ericsson Mobile Phones to come down dramatically. If not other cheaper alternatives Bluetooth headsets from made in China, Taiwan etc. will take over this emerging lucrative mobile phone accessory market. That’s will be good for normal day to day mobile phone users like us who don’t want to hassle in buses, trains and walk around with the wired headsets and wires dangling from our ears and getting entangled in our cloths and making it so conspicuous and a trouble to listen to the radio etc. using these great Sony Ericsson mobile phones.

How to Win Friends and Influence People Book by Dale Carnegie

You might have already heard about the effect Dale Carnegie’s How to win friends and influence people book has on people who have read it and applied it’s techniques and tips. If not I will tell you straight out that this book can teach you to have Sherlock Holms like detective powers and public relations of world’s best marketers. I will tell you the story about what this great book can do to you and how I came to know about this half PR, half psychology, full common sense book. I think it is a must read for every university degree student.

Some 6 or 7 years ago I had a lot of problems facing people and friends. I was not the normal 20 year old. I was depressed, shy, timid, arrogant with my family members and timid and afraid of the outside world. I worried so much. It was then that my uncle told about a book that could transform me. He said there is a book about getting around with friends and making it in the world by Dale Carnegie. That book will can tell you to win the game. He said “it can teach you how to tell when you meet someone what he is like and what he thinks about you.” I was impressed. I liked that ideas. I liked this kind of stuff. I like detective, Sherlock holms kind of stuff and this was just what I needed I thought and so thought my uncle. So not many days later I had a copy of this great book, treasure trove that will give me the hindsight needed to read other people and know about them before they even open their mouth and utter a word! So if you haven’t yet read this super duper book about public relations, psychology, managing people, (insert your phrase of choice here) please buy this book. If you read, study and apply the directions given in it you will find this book is worth it’s weight in gold!

Some days ago I went with a colleague to a demonstration of a product to a customer. My colleague is our company business analyst and marketing person. While on our way back I mentioned about How to win friends and influence people and about it’s author Dale Carnegie. I told her what my uncle said about dale Carnegies book that it can tell you how to see and person and tell what they are like. She was so impressed by that statement and the ability how to win friends and influence people can give you she immediately long to read one. Told me to get one for her and said she’ll pay me. I promised her to buy this book for her.

Security and Privacy of Confidential Information in Email Accounts

Yesterday I read an article online about a internet privacy case in Canada. It said that Google been ordered by the Canadian Courts to give the identity of two Gmail users and they had complied. The article also suggests that all our email contents can be obtained by Government or a suing party by a court order very easily if they want... It also said the email the anonymity and the things we think belong to us like our email address are all a myth. We don’t really own them. That’s fine. We don’t really own our email accounts and usernames, even though that too is worrisome. But what about the confidential information in our email accounts that can be exposed and privacy breached and cause damage to us financially and in other ways?

If someone sues us or a government want to get at our details it’s it’s very easy for them to get all the details they want about us from our email address. If they want they can get all our mail chat records, the emails and other attachments we have sent through email accounts. This is a serious breach of internet privacy… Do we really have any privacy on the Internet.. I think not. If we use a mail account or any other email account for sometime we our bound to use it for many private things that we don’t want anyone to know like chatting with friends and sending our personal details like CVs and other kind of letters to companies, clients, sometimes saving confidential information of our other Internet dealing like on EBay, Paypal, other internet account usernames and passwords etc. If a court orders Google to open up a account to Government or another party then all our confidential information like the ones I mentioned will be compromised. The people who inspect our accounts whether Government Officials or the other suing party can’t be guaranteed to be honest and discreet about our sometimes most confidential information that they might find in our email accounts.

This is very serious. Just because someone sues they can’t be given our whole email or other account opened up. There should be a line drawn somewhere. If it is a genuine case, the government or someone else want some details all the details of the account holder mustn’t be given away. Instead only what is required and relevant must be disclosed…

A 30 Day Blog Marathon Experiment

Hi,
I'm going to do a 30 day blog marathon using this blog. I'll be writing one blog post each day for the next 30 days inshallah. They will be unedited posts and article and comprise of atleast 300 words each. I want to improve my writing, get into the writing habit and let my thoughts flow through my fingers without any hesitation. I have heard just typing everyday without thinking what you are typing will improve your writing skills. That is a sound advice. It's the inspiration for my 30 day blog marathon too.

Also I hope to have a blog with 30 solid and unique blog posts at the end of this experiment. That way I will also have a good blog I can use for my internet marketing campaigns as well.

Lets see now, how many words have I typed now... Maybe 150... another same amount to go. What am I going to write... Am I into what they call a writers block? hmmm.. maybe but must keep going... Wait a bit.. I'll copy this into MS Word and see how many words I've typed so far.. If it is 300 I can stop :)

Oh no... I checked how many words I have typed so far.. The word count was only 198... what else to write? About my job, my life, the BSc degree final year I'm currently doing, the miseries of my life, my religious works..., internet marketing work I'm doing (i'm actually not doing, thinking of doing rather... everyday day dreaming when about earning that magical thousand dollar google cheque per month) well all this and more hope to blog in this very blog....

Now how many words have I written? Probably 225 or somewhere around that... Is it so difficult to come up with a 300 word post? No, I don't think so... I've already written this post just off my mind straight to the blogspot blog via my god gifted fingers and keyboard in less than 10 minutes.. That's not hard work at all. But what about a good solid article on a perticular subject matter? That takes some work. But some people just go on writing...good very interesting posts just off their minds just like I typed this post without thinking much..

I think that needs born talent and a lot of practice. I can't blame anyone. My mother and teachers told me so many times to do more essay writing in school. This is the price I pay for not listening to them.. Anyway, It's not late. I heard about a great writer who use to write 8 or was it 80 pages everyday for 5 or 10 years before he got his first article published in a newspaper.

Wow, now I checked how many word's I've typed... it was a whooping 498... What can't you achieve in 10 minutes if you go like this...

Hello World

Hi All,
Welcome to my new blog. I'm going to be blogging here about IT, Software, Technology, my work as a software developer in a leading Sri Lankan software company and anything else I feel like blogging. (Atleast I hope to blog here until I buy a domain and website). Since I'm going to blog about Software and technology mostly, I've begun this blog with a "Hello World" post. (FYI the first program a programmer usually writes when learning a new computer language is a small program to display a "Hello World!" message in the computer monitor.) I hope you tune into IT Business Buzz often...

regards,
Aksam
